Homemade Butter Chicken Recipe
Butter chicken is a popular Indian dish that is loved by many around the world. Here is a simple recipe to make butter chicken at home:
Ingredients:
1 lb boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 cup plain yogurt
1 tbsp ginger paste
1 tbsp garlic paste
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp paprika
Salt, to taste
1 tbsp vegetable oil
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1 onion, finely chopped
1 can (14 oz) tomato puree
1 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp honey
Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix the yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, turmeric, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, paprika, and salt. Add the chicken and coat well with the mixture. Marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the tomato puree to the skillet and stir well. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the heavy cream and honey to the skillet and stir well. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
Add the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir well. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with rice or naan bread.
